Mostly open holes which allows you to experiment with your form with little to no punishment. The early-mando dogleg right par3-hole is kinda interesting though. Couldn't really figure out a line that could yield you a birdie unless silly lucky.

The course has been renovated with new tracks and baskets in 2019. Even if the tracks are longer the new experience is somehow less friendly. Some tees are built against common sense and mostly the high and thick grass in the middle of the park makes it a nightmare for players to find their discs once they fall into it. You can see many people along the course spending a serious time searching in the grass. I lost one disc there and searched for 1h30 without success

The course was in pretty good shape and had nice grass fairways. The only downside is that some holes have been designed a bit poorly.

TL;DR: Short, beautiful and accessible disc golf course for advanced players with a few minor defects. Frustratingly hard for beginners. With the surge of popularity of disc golf, Helsinki area is not getting new beginner-friendly courses – it's losing them. The new layout for Munkka adds a ton of difficulty to the course with several tweener holes requiring advanced level drives to hit even close to the green. Munkkiniemi used to be the place to go for new players and I warmly recommended it for everyone whose game is in the ballpark of 600–800 rated. Now, apart from the few baskets installed in Sibelius park in Töölö, the closest true recreational/beginner course to downtown Helsinki is Puolarmaari in the middle of Espoo. However, if you're MA2 or higher and you're looking for a sub-one-hour lap nearby, you may find this course fun. Going under par is not a given and you will most likely find yourself throwing approach shots several times during the round. The landscaping/engineering has been left unfinished on hole #3, causing flooding on the tee pad and the fairway; you definitely want to throw from the road when it's freezing. Also the tee pad of hole #5 is way off compared to the drawings and the hole is super awkward to throw. Seems like a screwup on the behalf of the constructor. The flow of the course is better with the new layout, with hole #8's current position being the only place where you need to walk back up the fairway for the next hole. There is also an alternative pin and tee placement nearby that flows better, but is also very easy. Hole #2 also has an alternative pin, which brings a nice touch to the weekly competitions that are usually held during the winter. Also, the new tee pads and baskets are top notch.

Good location, accessibility and equipment. - Short track and dangerously close to pedestrians.

It will be nice when the renovations are finished. Unfortunately most of the baskets aren't there at the moment. Nice park style layout, very beginner friendly and no rough to speak of so you hopefully won't be losing any discs.

Good for basic training and for beginners and first throws of Summer

Currently undergoing renovations so quite bad and old baskets . Still we found about 7 baskets. They are adding proper cement tees!
