Best food I ever had, visually stunning, surprising tastes, great service. ( no idea how much 7 course meal costs so be prepared...)

Remember to pre-book to this place. Here's how it went for us. Starter dry bread with caramelized butter was a first and had a hint of toffee. Next in was oyster from France on a cloud of dry ice, exquisite. Third surprise was octopus ink tinted bread with smooth deer tartar, this just keeps getting better. Fourth surprise was lobster soup with broche and most delicious lobster chow. Fifth element was slow cooked halibut infused in bone marrow with smoked roe sauce, just divine. Sixth course was mouth watering chicken breast file with crispy skin and with most delicious side kick. Winding down with juron cheese and Chardonnay wine. For dessert, wait for it, Riesling and multilayer taste bud creation of ice-cream with licorice sorbet. Last surprise was tidbits sweet plank, OMG. Overall, needless to say, refreshing restaurant experience in Helsinki. Service is topnotch and not artificial in any means, these people care about you and clearly have passion to do right. Note to you, go with half wine tasting.

The ambience was sophisticated, the waiter knew a lot about wines and was able to suggest a perfect red wine for us! Have to visit the place soon again if you want some wine, this is a perfect place to visit!

I took 6 course surprice dinner with recommended wines. Firstly was dry bread and butter with a hint of toffee. Secondly was one fresh oyster from France. Thirdly was octopus flavored bread with smooth deer tartar. Fourth was lobster soup and lobster chow with white wine. Fifthly was slow cooked halibut fish infused in bone marrow which was the best of all portions. Sixthly was moist chicken breast file with crispy skin. Seventh portion was juron cheese and Chardonnay wine. For dessert, Riesling white wine and multilayer ice-cream with licorice sorbet. Fantastic restaurant gourmet experience in Helsinki. Service is topnotch and people care about you. Bathroom has surprisingly hand lotion and face cream: I love it. Be smart: take only half portions for tasting wine with the food.

I was brought to Sofia Gastro not expecting anything but dinner with a view of Helsinki's amazing cathedral. What an outstanding experience! First of all, the service was wholehearted, generous and accommodating at every point. Even if the food had been 'ordinary' the service would have been memorable. However the 3 courses were actually 5, by my count, each bite delicious. I didn't take photos or notes so I wouldn't remember everything. Very outstanding was the venison tatare with 2 special butters and 3 breads. If you are in Helsinki and wish to uplift your sense of taste please book a meal here.
