The town disgracefully and spitefully desecrated the grand Orthodox church that it had in 1923, and so the worshippers had to use a wooden edifice until this little, very Modernist and certainly very non-Orthodox looking church was built in 1962 by Mika Erno. Unfortunately, he made a mess of the job and there is damp getting in. The building's future is uncertain, especially since the parish is uniting with that of Helsinki in 2020.
