Finally, I managed to visit Ote, a small bouldering gym with versatile routes, compact design and friendly staff. There’s also an upper deck with basic strength training set-up: hangboards, campus board, training wall, pull bar and bench press. Ote is just like BK’s Cave in Pasila but upgraded to modern times.

Nice small climbing hall with welcome and warm atmosphere. Good and fairly many puzzles for grades 6a-6b

Oh, I forgot to review this during Christmas vacation. Now I really liked the place. It's not as huge as some other bouldering places I've been in, but everything else works and is nice. Routes were set up and graded logically and offering variety. I also had a chance to talk with some people saying that they actually do new routes very regularly. Was it even weekly? That being said, new routes in a place this size category are essential, otherwise it'd become dead dull soon. You could argue about some route setting principles and grip variety, but that's a purely subjective thing and probably even a bit cultural difference to what I'm used to. Locker rooms are clean, lighting in the climbing area is bright and good and upstairs you find a small exercise area. Small cafeteria offers some refreshment if you feel like it. Staff was extremely friendly and open. All the good stuff being said, there are a few limitations, mainly due to size. Seems to get pretty crowded at times. (Which is obviously a positive problem). For smaller kids there was very little to climb, or actually almost nothing (here I talk about 3-6 year olds). My daughter has been going to a local gym elsewhere from 3 years and I was around partly to see, if it's worth bringing her here. Not yet. Maybe later.. But I don't think you can do too much about it with these premises. But they still offer courses for school age kids, which I find really cool! It's the kids you really should put an effort on if you want the sports to improve in the region. And this exceptionally long review I end just by saying. You can't do much better with these premises. Good job. Keep it up.
