Pros: Nice and spacious room (after some initial issues). Cons: We had to pay 90 extra because we couldn't get the key from the automated system and we couldn't reach the reception (not open on reasonable times). No one told us that it would cost 90 when we called the service. Also, the first apartment we received had water damage in the bathroom so we had to change the room.

I stayed for two and half months, in two different rooms. It was excellent. Its location is really good, the facilities are very good and the equipment of the departments is complete. It's an expensive hotel, but the price decreases when your stay is longer. The cleaning staff is very friendly and attentive. Aalto Inn hasn't a reception, it's locate in Töölö Towers in Helsinki. The people in charge of the email and reception are efficient.

Great views and surroundings. Just that yay not have enough stores to get routine stuff and have to rely on whatever is available within the university campus unless you are up for metro travel for even small things.

Great apartment for student. It is centered in the University and well connected through walk or ebike. Interior is minimalist with TV, fridge and sofa. One simple kitchen can be used for cooking.

Very excellent hotel. Very nice room. No oven in the rooms with kitchens, but there's a common oven on each floor.

The first impression was great. The building is located right on the shore front and has well designed rooms and beautiful lounges on each floor. Our room had a balcony with a view of the sea. But since being designed and built things have gone downhill. When we arrived our room was 26 degrees Celsius. We soon found out that the glass panes on the balcony were broken and couldn't be opened, which made the balcony and the apartment super hot. Maintenance did fix that quickly, but there also appears to have been some problem with the ventilation because the apartment was still hot for several days after that. Water had damaged the cupboard in the bathroom making the wood poof out around the edges like a marshmallow. Water leaked from the faucet so the bathroom floor was continually wet. One of the washing machines broke down while we were there. Certainly problems can arise in even the best hotel, but here they seem to occur too frequently. It seems the place has been a little neglected, and as a result has been kind of run down. The only staff we saw around were the two cleaning ladies, and it seemed like they had their hands full. The common areas also had signs of wear and neglect. There were also still notifications up about window cleaning at the end of June, and by that time it was mid-August. All in all, I would not recommend staying here. From my understanding, this hotel is only for guests of the universities here in the Helsinki area. If the university lets you stay for free then sure, take it. However, if you have to pay for it yourself (like we did) then you might as well spend your money elsewhere.
