The borch was amazing. Deep taste and nicely spiced. I had a veggie version and I bet the meat is as superb as well. Cabbage pie was smooth and with good amount of delicious cabbage.

I am hooked to Alenka's borscht soup. Lovely lady and excellent service. Fresh cinnamon buns 10/10!
Amazing food and pastries. They have alcohol and coffee that is to die for. The best hospitality in town. I wouldn't go to any other restaurant. The best restaurant in Helsinki hands down.
The best food in Helsinki! Highly recommend for cakes, pastries and Borsch. :)
Very nice happy hour offer: two drinks and some food for 13. We got khachapuri, mushroom pie and lamb pilaf. The pie was delicious! The lady serving us was extremely kind and genuine.
Delicious homemade russian food! Loved it! ️
The one star reviews are very suspicious, and do not match our experience. The wording and context suggests that they may have been left by malicious, neighboring merchants . We purchased the 7.90 Lunch Soup special (Russian Borscht soup). The serving was a good size, and very filling. We also split a 3.50 cabbage pie between us. The meal was served with tasty rye bread and fresh butter. The food tasted very fresh and tasty. The owner Alenka is very polite and friendly. We will come again, thank you Alenka.
I was here twice with my mother while visiting Helsinki. The first time, I found the place when I was Googling the best place for pancakes. We actually got there for the grand opening event. The chicken soup was amazing (not salty enough for me, but Alenka says she always uses little salt in her cooking, so I added some myself), and so were the pancakes. My mother thoroughly enjoyed her Russian borscht. The feta-cheese filled buns were great as an appetizer, and the tea is served from an original Russian samovar. During the second visit, I was actually high (unbeknown to anyone present). The spicy grilled chicken with rice was better for dealing with the munchies than spicy chicken from ANY fast food chain. We had a pleasant conversation with Alenka herself, and even another guest. The cozy restaurant, even if slightly further away from public transport, feels like a cross between an American diner, and a kitchen somewhere in the Russian countryside, and the combination works surprisingly well. Anyone visiting Helsinki should stop by at least once, at any point of the day.
