Baltic Connector Oy is a state owned company established in Finland in 2015 to implement the Finnish part of the Balticconnector pipeline project. The construction of the pipeline is executed together with the Estonian transmission network company Elering AS. Balticconnector connects the gas networks of Finland and Estonia through a 150 kilometer long bi-directional gas transmission pipeline, of which 77 kilometer will be constructed offshore. The pipeline allows the integration of the Baltic and Finnish gas markets into EU’s internal energy markets. It enables the opening of the gas market in Finland and increases security of supply and energy security. The estimated total investment cost of the Balticconnector gas pipeline is EUR 250 million and 75 per cent of this amount will be co-funded by the EU Commission. The interconnecting pipeline is expected to be completed by 2020.
