Took my broken external hard-drive (Seagate Expansion 2TB rosewood) there as it was acting funky: freezing OS occasionally when not responding. Was told to get a call after 2 days after dropping my device. On 3rd day I tried to reach them multiple times per day, no answer, no call backs. 4th day tried to call around 8 times on different times of the day. No answer, no call-backs. After a weekend called again and phone was answered on the first try and I was told that the hard-drive is totally dead for them and it would require ordering of new parts and require laboratory work for part swaps with price estimation given for the same. I picked the drive and it was still appearing on my computer as before, but still prevented me from copying files. I took my hard-drive elsewhere where they have hardware and software to access HDD service port (i.e.. PC3000 or MRT). Companies with these include at least: IBAS, Alhberg data, IT-Tohtorit and Hammardata. Got my data recovered with quarter of the price estimation I was given here as no hardware changes were required to do the recovery. For me it seems that this was caused due lack sophisticated tools, so more expensive solution was proposed. A bit same as if I took my car into service due dead spark-plug. I would be suggested engine swap as that service is lacking tools to change/realize the issue is with the spark-plug. Hard-drive was not manually opened here, no harm done, neither costed anything for me, just delayed the data-recovery process for me with 1 week.
