Global Oil Shale Plc (GOS) is a leading company involved in the development and commercial use of large scale surface oil shale resources for production of electricity, shale oil and associated infrastructure materials, including cement, clinker and prefabricated concrete. The main focus of GOS is on the launch of the Tarfaya, Morocco oil shale project which is in the initial phase. The project combines the production of electricity and the production of cement using the surface oil shale resource as a main raw material. The conversion of oil shale to energy is based on a proven and operating CFB (Circulating Fluidised Bed) type process which has been developed and deployed in Finland for more than 40 years.
