Don't really understand why everyone is talking about the importance of media education? What about coding - should I as a teacher/journalist/parent know something about this? And - sigh - why is everyone taking selfies? The Finnish Society on Media Education (FSME) is an association that aims to understand all of these questions and more. We strive to support and develop the field of research and practices of media education, contribute to the public debate and provide opportunities to share media education experiences online and offline. Our main platforms are the recently renewed Mediakasvatus.fi service (in Finnish) and Mediekunskap.fi (in Swedish), which gather information on the latest news, events, publications and projects from the Finnish media education field. Our English webpage Mediaeducation.fi offers insights into the field for international visitors. Founded in 2005, the FSME operates nationwide in two main languages (Finnish and Swedish) and is funded by the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture and by our members. We are a member of UN-Alliance of Civilizations Media Literacy Education Clearinghouse and in co-operation with International Clearinghouse on Children, Youth and Media. Want to know more?
