It’s not big but a lovely place in the summer. I enjoy the most the inside - the smells in the winter and the bench to sit down and relax / read on are very peaceful and relaxing and lovely. The cafe staff wasn’t the nicest last time I was there so there is only 4 stars. The staff in the Botanical Garden should be heavily oriented pro customer and pro visitors. They should be a priority- the customer comes first culture is as important as the manners and a fluent English language. Which is especially matters because it is a top tourist spot. Bad attitude should not be allowed for staff, honestly- this place is like a business card for the entire Finnish society and Finland. After visiting the cafe, I had the impression that Finns are rude and unfriendly people who don’t care for the customers needs or aren’t even bothering to be kind and polite to foreigners. Gave the bad aftertaste and it wouldn’t happen if it was more international and genuinely friendly.

It's paradise in the city! Especially nice to come here in winter, as if you are in the tropics. There are about 10 rooms with different plants, trees, flowers. Fresh warm air and natural aroma everywhere. Very romantic place)

I had no idea there could be a place like here in the city! So cozy and beautiful, I found some similarities with Luxembourg garden in Paris!

Big, well structured, and interesting winter garden with some parts outside (nothing to see there during the winter season though). You might spend up to a couple of hours there, enjoying the plants, reading descriptions, and making photos. The place is also very pretty in architectural sense with vintage decorations and intricate interiors.

The greenhouses were well worth the visit. They were beautiful. The back outside gardens with geometric shaped flower boxes filled with black gravel, with a few odd, very unhappy looking plants, were not aesthetically pleasing. It seemed as if no thought had been put into creating harmonious landscaping, but that a plant lab experiment had gone wrong and the plants had been planted in a hurry to survive as best as they could. The moss garden and tree gardens in the front, however, were well thought out, with the plants well cared for.

You can get in using Finnish museum card. Good and charming basic exhibition, not too big indoor venue so easy to go through. The waterlily room is the best one (also hottest and humid). Indoor garden has entrance fee (free with museo card) but outdoor garden is free and there us also Cafe next to the entrance gate. Also good to visit around the year to see outdoor garden in different stages

Well, botanical garden of Helsinki university is something awesome!!! Situated behind the central railway station in Kaisaniemen park, garden presents perfect planning, beautiful flower beds, trees, bushes etc. Everything is signed. People walking on cozy paths. Also there are large covered plant gallery. The collection of plants is more than amazing! And I know, what am I talking about - my father in law is one of the most famous scientist in pharmacognosy. He visited Helsinki & university garden 15 years ago, and tell me about this perfect corner of beauty & science. Now, I'm proud of visiting this garden too. Thanks to people, who develop this perfection!
