Unexpected find in the middle of nowhere. They have some local and some international animals to look at and offer sleigh rides and horse rides. They could make the sleigh ride a bit more Christmas-like in the weeks before Christmas as the kids come are coming to Finland for Santa.

We came here December 2017. This is a wonderful place for grownups and kids alike! They have a very affordable price for Husky sled ride, especially compared to Rovaneimi, Finland. They have a nice little restaurant with good local food and drinks. We enjoyed seeing the large outdoor animals and they also have a really nice indoor animal area with a big variety of different kinds of animals from all parts of the world. My son loved the big sledding hill with free sleds and we had fun chatting with people from all over the world.

Visited for the horse safari which was excellent. Lovely people but I am not a zoo person so this side didn't interest me.

Yet you might visit Ylläs just for skiing (downhill or xc) or snowboarding, there is also other things to do and see then just the fells. This hidden "mini"-Zoo has most of the little ones excluding naturally the BIG ones that need more care and HUGE accommodation. So no elefants, giraffes or like, but loads of reptiles, turtles, mouses, rodents and ones which have their own fur and can stay out (winter times), camels, reindeers, lambs and so on. Over all there is over 100 spices and almost 300 different animals. In addition it has very active horsestall that offers multiple activities with horses. There's also dog, reindeer and horseback sleds offered would you want to try something else instead of snowmobile. Kind of hidden location to make sure that the animals have their own peace, but still easy to find and won't take time to get there. Kind and good service with that homemade cosy feeling - if you like animals and the weather is "bad" for outdoors this might nice place to visit.

A local small-ish "zoo" with animals mostly from tundra environment. There is also an inner section for the smaller animals alongside with different exotic pets that people own in Finland. A list of activities include, but are not limited to horse riding, driving snowmobiles and sleigh rides (all with separate charges). Cafetaria offers a small selection of drinks and snacks accompanied by a few warm meals. The place provides an entertaining experience which is good but it does not compare well on price/volume of content ratio against bigger commercial zoos. Admission fee as of 2017/03 is 12 for adults and 9 for children under the age of eleven. The main reason why I chose 3 instead of 4 stars is purely due to pricing. I would still recommend visiting, just don't expect it to be anything extraordinary.

Way to expensive for the few animals there and most are not Lapland specific. Wouldn't recommend a visit to be honest.
