Maritime Archaeological Society represents its namesake in the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies, which makes it the only officially recognized NGO for under water archaeology in Finland. Our mission is to protect, make more accessible and educate citizens of our under water cultural heritage, which is uniquely abundant even in a global scale. To realize our mission, we publish educational and scientific publications, we hold scientific conferences and facilitate under water research and heritage projects. Today we are known for our contribution towards Porkkala Wreck Park (wreckpark.eu) and for the organizing of the IKUWA7 conference (https://www.helsinki.fi/en/conferences/7th-international-congress-for-underwater-archaeology).
