Really unique place to visit. Digging in to the dirt for finding your own jewelry was nice experience for both adults and children. All of us found more amethysts than we were allowed to take with us. Really good that the place isn't being mined with heavy machinery and there is not much damage to the nature.

Beautiful place. Nice scenes. There is approximately 2,5km walk from parking place to the mine. Kids loved the possibility to dig your own amethyst.

Great experience, the staff is very friendly , first a little history and what is amethyst. And after we go digging and if you're lucky you can found some amethyst. And I found some little piece .

Great visit An excellent talk by a knowledgeable and informative guide made the walk in on quite a miserable day well worth it (our visit was in early June). My wife particularly enjoyed searching for her own Amethyst which you are allowed to keep. An added bonus is the lovely cafe which served very tasty coffee and doughnuts!

Quite expensive for the short time left you can actually dig yourself in the mine. Also, you have to put all (except the one that fits into your fist) of your finds into a big bin after the time is over. My guess is they either use parts of it to produce their jewellery or they throw it around the field for other's to find it again, or both. This is disappointing and I feel fooled. I paid for entrance and worked for them without compensation...

A small explanation about why their quartz is not like any other, you don't enter the mine but instead, a small playground for kids to dig around dirt in hope to find a small bit of purple quartz. Surely fun for them, but not for me. For that price you'd rather buy the stone in a store...

Love the snow here, was so thick and extremely cold. Enjoy the experience and you can the chance to dig your own amethyst.
