QUU Design was established in 2018 by Finnish-born interior and product designer Heli Mäkiranta with the simple objective of making everyday life more beautiful with simple and timeless Scandinavian-style lighting. Surrounded by lakes and forests, Heli’s lighting collection is inspired by Nordic nature featuring environmentally-friendly natural materials and clean, organic shapes. QUU lights are created out of two contrasting materials that complement each other beautifully. The chunky, solid wood combined with delicate, light glass balls create a harmonious, aesthetically appealing design. Each QUU light is unique and handmade in Finland. The wood is sustainably sourced solid ash and turned into a perfect ball in a workshop and then carefully painted by hand. The glass balls are made from high-quality recycled glass and individually mouth-blown in a small family business. Finally, a qualified electrician assembles the light. The lights are available in a multitude of colour and design combinations. The basic collection consists of pastel and neutral shades but the lights are fully customisable. They can be made-to-order in any colour which makes them perfect for bringing Nordic style and simple beauty to any interior.
