Visited in March and many animals were sleeping/hiding (but that's how animals work). Still was able to see birds, bears, wolves etc. Buy tickets online to save few euros.

We drove one day from Rovaneimi to Ranua as we had heard a lot of good things about the zoo. The Ranua zoo was really nice. Lots of different and unique species of animals that are only found in the arctic belt. Animals were well kept and the zoo was really nice and large. Very safe. They also have nice store and cafeteria.

An awesome zoo/nature reserve with animals you don't find in many other places like polar bears, brown bears, beavers, wolf's and many more. Enclosures are alot bigger than normal zoos. Have free sledges too pull little ones along on. A nice buffet style buffet with a good selection of food for adults and children.

Mostly worth of your money, even though you probably some animals won’t appear. Birds and bears were awesome.

I have to admit for me it was more a Wildpark than a Zoo. So don't hesitate to go there if you don't like zoos normally. We've been there during the winter season and it was very empty (okay maybe this was because of corona). A few animals were sleeping but still you could see a lot and it is also a nice experience to see them in the snow (the lynx were so lost it was kinda cute). Take warm clothes with you because there aren't any stores in the middle of the way to get some warm drinks. It was worth the way and the price.
