The museum presents history, technology, every-day-life glass items as well as art work in glass. There is plenty of information provided in Finnish, Swedish and English. The building of the museum is very elegantly adapted old glass factory house that itself is worth seeing. The interiors of the museum were designed by Tapio Wirkala.

Extensive collection of glass from Roman to Medieval to Modern vessels and artefacts expertly displayed. The museum follows the development of glass and the glass industry in detail. Set in an old glass factory, it also gives an insight into the Finnish glass industry, including the world-famous Iittala factory. The museum also boasts a truly impressive collection of glass-related literature. The giftshop is well-stocked as well (card payment available). Restaurant Klaas is good for a decent lunch break forming a well thought out complex with the museum. For a full day of exploring in Riihimäki, you can also visit the hunting museum next door.
If you have some time to relax and to buy original glass gifts just welcome!
Great place to discover beauty and uniqueness of Finnish glass design. Lots items from golden age of 1950-1970. I am waiting for special exhibition of Helena Tynell between may-october 2018. Museum is a bit difficult to get to, located few Kms off the city center but always worth visiting.
