The statue of Alexander II, Tsar of Russia and Grand Duke of Finland, known in Finland as \the good czar\ is one of the major tourist landmarks of the city and of course a reminder of Finland's close relationship with Imperial Russia. Walter Runeberg (sculptor) made the monarch’s statue according to Takanen’s (sculptor) proposal. The granite pedestal is surrounded by four statues Law, Science/Art, Peace and Work.
