All students taking a M.Sc. degree in Engineering or Architecture are members of it. The mission of TTYY is to act as a link between technical students, and contribute to their educational and social goals. This is achieved both alone and together with other student unions in Finland. TTYY was officially founded on 3 November 1972. During the years 1965-1972 the same mission was carried out by an organization called Tampereen Teekkarit which was a suborganization of the Student Union of Helsinki University of Technology.
