Tieyhtiö Vaalimaa Oy is a special purpose vehicle set up to manage the construction and operation of a 32 kilometer motorway section from Hamina, a major port in South-East Finland, and Vaalimaa, a key border crossing to Russia. The Hamina-Vaalimaa project is part of European TEN-T networks and the contract value is almost 400 M€. The motorway is being built as a life-cycle contract, a Finnish variant of a public-private partnership, whereby the client, the Finnish Transport Agency, purchases road design, construction, funding, and maintenance until 2034 from the service provider, Tieyhtiö Vaalimaa Oy.
