It's a great experience for the whole family and it's really fun trying to find all the animals in the exhibition

Really quiet place and nice to discover animals :) (Can I take the bear for my room ?)
Dioramas from the whole range of wildlife and habitats in Finland. Nice stories about old Finnish belief systems as well.
Great old dioramas in a beautiful 100-year old purpose built wooden museum.
The museum is a little brother of the Stockholm Biological museum near Skansen. The design of the museum building was inspired by the Stockholm one, so that it has transparent roof and similar looks. Inside the museum one can see different landscapes of Finland with animals and birds that inhabit each landscape, or region. Of course, there is a bear, a deer, a lynx and many others. In modern times no animals were killed for the museum. Dead animals found in the wild become stuffed animals in the exhibition.
Good museum with excellent staff to answer questions. It's a small museum, very easy to get to, so well worth a short detour. The main part is a series of dioramas showing Finnish nature through the seasons in a variety of different situations (urban, forest etc). There was also a seperate exhibition of native fungi on when I was there.
Cozy and nice place to educate yourself about nature.
Very nice place and educational place for the children
